I really love croatia an the local culture and i might be interested in a sailing trip, when is best time of year for this?

Dear reader,
I too love Croatia and the local culture. I recommend to go on a sailing trip in May, June or September to avoid mass tourism and temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius. But if you don't mind the heat and crowd, any time from May to October is suitable. For more information on sailing holidays in Croatia click on the link in my Croatia post on 26 October.
I hope you have a lovely holiday!

There's some great information here.. I would love to go to Croatia and would very much like to concentrate on places off the beaten track. One question, how child friendly is Croatia? We have a 16 month old baby girl that loves outdoors, animals and parks. Where would be a good place to start and how many days ideally should we spend there? Kasia

Dear Kasia
I am happy that you like my blog and also that you are thinking of going on a holiday to Croatia.
First of all, Croatia is very child friendly. Croatians take their kids everywhere so that should not be a problem. Where I usually go, there are a lot of families with small children. You can target small villages built around bays as these places are very intimate and the water is calm (no waves) which is ideal for small children. If you can go in June or September, the climate would be better for a small child as it gets very hot in the summer. Dubrovnik is a good place to start and if you rent a car, you get to see all the small villages on the way up the coast.
There are beautiful national parks in Croatia, famous tourist attractions like the Plitvice National Park or Slapove Krke. The second one is near Sibenik, which is only approx. 2.5 hrs north of Split. If you want more specific information, please email me directly and I am happy to help you plan your holiday.

Happy travelling!
Gordana
